I Heart Revolution SLIME Palette Reviewūüćę

Hello babs! So it was my birthday yesterday and I received 3 new chocolate bar palettes so today I thought I would play around with one of them and review it here on my blog. The first one I am going to be reviewing is the¬†Slime¬†palette from I Heart Revolution. This is one out of 2 chocolate palettes that they have released for Halloween and I was so excited because this is the first time they have released chocolate palettes for Halloween ahhhh! (I’m not sure whether they are Halloween exclusives or whether they will remain permanent…) My sister Hayley picked this one up for me, not sure where from but it is available on both Revolution Beauty and Superdrug for ¬£8.99.

There are x7 matte shades, x10 foil like shades and x1 shimmer shades which makes a total of 18 shades altogether. There is 1g / 0.03oz of product in each individual eyeshadow. This palette is cruelty-free but not vegan.

PICK YOURS UP HERE or HERE

Packaging

The eyeshadows come in a shiny black plastic rectangular packaging which has a neon green 3D melted chocolate effect on the front (looks slightly similar to the Mint Chocolate palette). The palette flips open and has a click shut mechanism. Inside you get a full size mirror and the shade names are printed onto the packaging underneath each individual eyeshadow.

First impressions

I wasn’t sure whether this was going to have a funky smell because of the name being Slime but I can confirm it just smells of chocolate like the majority of the others. As always, the scent is nothing too overpowering but I always like to mention it incase anyone reading is sensitive to scented products.

Now I was dead excited to get my hands on this palette because from the pictures online it just looks so fun!!! The neon green melted effect against the shiny black packaging is so eye-catching I LOVE IT!! I’m going to get the negatives out of the way first because I hate being negative… there are more shimmers in this palette compared to mattes and if you don’t know by now I prefer to have more mattes to work with rather than shimmers. I really like the colour selection of mattes that we get in here because they are all different, I just wish there was a few more in here. When I swatched the palette I noticed some of the shades were patchy in pigmentation, however I noticed the colour pay-off was so much better when I had applied them onto my eyes so just bare that in mind (don’t always go by swatches because I was very underwhelmed by a few shades but that soon changed when I saw how they performed on the eyes)

I absolutely love the colours in this palette and definitely think it’s quite unique in my collection. Majority of the shades are pigmented, whereas some aren’t… however like I mentioned the shades apply really well to the eyes and are easy to blend out. What I did notice is that the foil like shades and the shimmer work so much better if you wet your brush!!

Swatches

Disclaimer: Don’t always rely on swatches of shadows because sometimes they perform better on the eyes than they do in the swatches or vice versa… I just like to show swatches so you get an idea on what the colours look like.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics JAWBREAKER Palette Review

Hello babs! I’m going to be reviewing quite an exciting palette today (at least its exciting for me) and I know this has been out for a couple of months or so now but I really wanted to share it with you all! We’re going to be talking about the¬†Jawbreaker¬†palette from Jeffree Star Cosmetics. This is my first ever JSC eyeshadow palette *spoiler alert: ¬†I LOVE IT* and I managed to get this as an early birthday present from my parents. I purchased mine from Beauty Bay for ¬£54 and I know if you’re in the US then you can get it directly from the JSC website for $58. This palette has a lot of bright colourful shadows in it!!!

There are 24 eyeshadows in this palette… 17 are matte and 7 are foil like shadows. Each shadow has 1.50g / 0.05oz of product in. This palette is¬†cruelty-free¬†and¬†vegan.

PICK YOURS UP HERE (UK) or HERE (US)

Packaging

The eyeshadows come in a rectangular cardboard packaging. The palette is metallic pink and it has multi-coloured splatters all over it to make it look like the Jawbreaker sweet. The name of the palette is in white lettering outlined in green (I know it doesn’t look white in the photo haha) and the Jeffree Star logo is in a slightly deeper pink colour compared to the packaging behind the name of the palette.

First impressions

When I first saw the previews of this palette drop online I KNEW I had to have it!!! First thing I’m going to point out is that this palette doesn’t really have a scent, theres a slight something there but I’m not sure whether thats the eyeshadows or the packaging…

The palette looks so much more beautiful in person than it does online!!! When I opened the palette I fell in love. This is such a fun, bright and colourful palette so I definitely think its for professional makeup artists or even just experienced people who play with makeup. It does look a little overwhelming having so many shades but once you’ve had a proper look then the ideas just start flowing. You can definitely create sooooo many looks just with this one palette because there are so many different shades! I also love that there are more mattes than shimmers because I typically use more mattes in a look compared to shimmers. You do have some great shimmers to really add something to the looks you create!

Now the majority of these shades are insanely pigmented so just start off with little product first and build it up. If you go in with too much product straight away then you may have trouble blending… not saying these shades are hard to blend but if you have little eye space like me then adding too much to begin with will leave you with not a lot of play room when blending and wanting to add more colours. I want to point out that I noticed some shadows stained my eyes, some more than others. The shades that stained my eyes a lot are¬†Licorice¬†and Raspberry. Other ones however like¬†F*ck only stained my eyes a little bit. I’d recommend using a good eye makeup remover for these shadows because I struggled a lot to get rid of staining when only using makeup remover wipes.¬†*Disclaimer – it does mention on the box and website that “Bubble Gum, Licorice, F*ck, Gum Drop, Snack, Raspberry, And What?, Orange Juice, Suck, Cotton Candy, Bite Me, Cherry Wet Are Not Intended For Use Around The Immediate Eye Area.”* There is one shade in the palette that went a little bit patchy when blending on the eyes and that is the shade¬†Delicious, when I tried to pack more on to get rid of the patchiness the shadow just wouldn’t grip… that is the only one out of the palette which I found hard to work it.

Swatches

Disclaimer: Don’t always rely on swatches of shadows because sometimes they perform better on the eyes than they do in the swatches or vice versa… I just like to show swatches so you get an idea on what the colours look like.

Final thoughts…

Like I mentioned at the start, I LOOOOOOOVE THIS PALETTE! Honestly the looks I have created with it so far I am so happy with! You can definitely create more wearable looks with this palette using the nude brown shades but you can also go full on COLOUR VIBES with all of the shades you have. I definitely think if you are a beginner in makeup or just not so confident working with colourful shadows then I would probably say go for a more cheaper alternative colourful option because this one can require just a little more time and effort put into creating eye looks with this. However, if you’re a professional makeup artist, experienced at playing with makeup or just feel very confident working with colourful shadows then this palette would be right up your street. It is a little pricey yes but it is soooo worth it… the formula of the shadows are incredible and they do perform very well on the eyes. Definitely do your research into this palette if you’re a little unsure on whether you want to pay the price for it but I’m so glad I did. I’ve been reaching for this in nearly every bright and colourful look since I bought it!!!!

I Heart Revolution MACAROONS Palette Reviewūüćę

Hello babs! You’ll be glad to know this is the last of the chocolate bar palette reviews for a little bi whilst I wait to add new ones to my collection. The one we are going to be talking about today is the I Heart Revolution¬†Macaroons¬†palette. I can’t remember whether I got this one off Revolution Beauty or Superdrug but I’m thinking more so it was from Revolution Beauty. On Revolution Beauty this costs ¬£9 and on Superdrug it costs ¬£8.99.

There are x4 matte shades and x14 shimmer shades which makes a total of 18 shades altogether. The matte shades each contain 1.2g / 0.042oz of product and the shimmer shades each contain 1g / 0.035oz of product. This palette is cruelty-free but not vegan.

Packaging

The eyeshadows come in a shiny ‘custard’ colour plastic rectangular packaging which has a pale blue 3D melted chocolate effect on the front. As with all the others, the palette has a full size mirror, flips open and has a click shut mechanism. The shades names are also printed onto the palette under each individual shade.

First impressions

This palette has a slight chocolate fragrance to it just like the majority of the other chocolate bar palettes. As I have mentioned before, it is nothing too overpowering.

I‚Äôm just going to get the negative things out of the way to begin with… the first thing I dislike about this palette is that there are more shimmer shades compared to mattes‚Ķ there are only 4 matte shades to work with which for me personally is not enough. The only matte shades you get are different brown shades and even then 2 of them look very similar (shades¬†Baked With Love¬†and¬†Heavenly Bite). The other critique I have to mention is that whilst the shades are varied and some unique which is good, I would have liked just a bit more ‘oomph’ in this palette. I want the palette inside to feel like what it’s trying to portray from the colour of the packaging… What I like about the palette is that there is a good variety of shimmer/foil like shades to choose from to really add something to the looks you may create!

The pigmentation of this palette is not the best I’ve had but then also not the worst either. Some of the foil like shades don’t perform how you would like a foil shade to and 2 out of the 4 mattes need some building to get them to pay off how they look in the pan. If you’re willing to put in a little work then this palette can achieve some nice looks but it just needs a little bit working with.

Swatches

Disclaimer: Don’t always rely on swatches of shadows because sometimes they perform better on the eyes than they do in the swatches or vice versa… I just like to show swatches so you get an idea on what the colours look like.

Coconut РThis is a silver foil like shade with a green/blue shift to it. This could be good to use as an inner corner or under the brow bone highlight. Pigmentation 3/5.
Almonds –¬†This is a light brown matte shade (almost the same as my skin tone). This could be good to use as a transition shade in the crease. Pigmentation 3/5.
Craze –¬†This is a brown bronze foil like shade. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Desire –¬†This is a cool toned green almost matte shade with a slight shimmer. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Nom Nom –¬†This is a vibrant blue foil like shade. Pigmentation 4.5/5.
Baked With Love –¬†This is a reddy brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3.5/5.

Dessert –¬†This is a yellow/green foil like shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Petite –¬†This is a bronze foil like shade which looks quite similar to¬†Craze. Pigmentation 3/5.
Sweet Treat –¬†This is a light blue foil like shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Sugarcoated –¬†This is a silvery blue foil like shade which could be good to use as an inner corner or under the brow bone highlight. Pigmentation 4/5.
Blueberry –¬†This is a browny grey foil like shade. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Whisk –¬†This is a deep champagne gold foil like shade. Pigmentation 4/5.

Icing –¬†This is a green foil like shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Chocolate –¬†This is a light warm toned brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Heavenly¬†Bite –¬†This is a reddy brown matte shade which looks quite similar to¬†Baked With Love. Pigmentation 2.5/5.
Finishing Touch –¬†This is a deep blue grey foil like shade. Pigmentation 5/5.
Meringue –¬†This is a light orangey bronze foil like shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Dazzling –¬†This is a deep blue grey foil like shade, slightly lighter than¬†Finishing Touch. Pigmentation 4.5/5.

Final thoughts…

This palette is not my favourite but one of the looks I created with it I instantly fell in love! You do have to work a little bit more to get this palette to perform how you want it to. Some of the foil like shades are to die for but some of them are a little lack lustre… If you’re into the colour story of this palette and don’t mind having more shimmers then mattes then you may like this palette. Although the¬†Cotton Candy¬†palette is the same, I prefer that one to this one as I think the few mattes it has performs a lot better than this one. I’m not screaming high recommendations for you to go and buy it but it’s not a terrible palette at all either… it’s just not one I will reach for much in my collection.

I Heart Revolution SMORES Palette Reviewūüćę

Hello babs! Todays post is going to be yet another chocolate bar palette review and the one we are going to be looking at and talking about is the I Heart Revolution¬†Smores¬†palette. I believe I bought this one on DePop about Christmas time last year because originally they said it was going to be an exclusive to the Chocolate Vault (but they ended up releasing it separately) and I didn’t want to take the chance of missing the opportunity to have it so I bought it off there. They do however have it on Revolution Beauty for ¬£9 and on Superdrug for ¬£8.99. This is another neutral, nudey brown sorta palette which you will see if you keep on reading…

There are 18 shades in this palette and the palette as a whole has 18g / 0.63oz of product in which approximately works out at 1g / 0.035oz in each pan. There are 10 matte shades,  6 foil like shades and 2 shimmers. This palette is cruelty-free and vegan.

Packaging

The eyeshadows come in a shiny brown plastic rectangular packaging which has a shiny white 3D melted chocolate effect on the front. Inside it has a full size mirror with the shade names printed onto the palette underneath each shade. The palette flips open and has a click shut mechanism.

First impressions

As like the majority of the chocolate bar palettes, this one also has a chocolate scent to it. As I have mentioned before, this scent is not overpowering but I like to mention it because some people are sensitive to scented products.

If you read my Nudes palette review a few days ago then you may think this palette looks awfully similar. It does have the same colour story and you definitely don’t need to have both in your collection, you will be just fine with either one! Like the other one, there are a lot of neutral, nude, brown sorta shades because of the theme being Smores. Like with the Nudes palette, you can’t create many looks apart from either neutral or smokey eyeshadow looks. There isn’t any pops of colour in this palette either. I would have liked to have a matte white and black shade in this palette as I definitely think it would have completed the colour story!

In this palette there are more mattes than there are shimmers which I really like in a palette. This means you have more mattes to work with when creating the base to your eyeshadow looks. However, to compliment the matte shades you also have a decent amount of shimmers/foil like shades to choose from to really add to your look! The names in this palette really fit with the theme as well as they are all pretty much smores/food or campfire related (apart from like 2 or 3), I definitely fancy a smore when using this palette! The palette has decent pigmentation overall, there are a few shades which need a little more building as they don’t come out like you think they will from looking at the shade in the pan. The foil like shades are very nice and the formula of this palette overall is nice and smooth. They go easily onto the eyes, blend out well and work well together.

Swatches

Disclaimer: Don’t always rely on swatches of shadows because sometimes they perform better on the eyes than they do in the swatches or vice versa… I just like to show swatches so you get an idea on what the colours look like.

Marshmallow –¬†This is an off white matte shade which could be good to use to set an eyelid primer or base. Pigmentation 3/5.
Toast –¬†This is a warm brown matte shade which could be good to use as a transition shade in the crease. Pigmentation 3/5.
Roasted –¬†This is a deep brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5 as slightly patchy.
Cracker –¬†This is a light brown matte shade which again could be good to use as a transition shade in the crease. Pigmentation 3/5.
Broken Biscuit –¬†This is a reddy brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Dainty –¬†This is a chocolate brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3.5/5.

Dessert –¬†This is a cool toned deep brown matte shade. Pigmentation 2.5/5 as needed a lot of building up.
Gooey –¬†This is a light cream brown matte shade (pretty much my skintone). This could be good to use to either set an eyelid primer or base or use as a transition shade in the crease. Pigmentation 2.5/5 as its a very light colour.
Campfire –¬†This is a light gold foil like shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Golden –¬†This is a bronzy champagney foil like shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
More Smores –¬†This is a chocolate brown foil like shade. Pigmentation 4.5/5.
Over The Fire –¬†This is a chocolate brown matte shade with a slight shimmer to it. Pigmentation 3.5/5.

Satisfy –¬†This is browny gold foil like shade. Pigmentation 4.5/5.
Dripping In Chocolate РThis a dark cool tone brown matte shade. Pigmentation 2.5/5 as a little bit patchy.
Melted –¬†This is a light warm tone brown matte shade. Pigmentation 2.5/5 as slightly patchy.
Yummy –¬†This is a light champagne shimmer shade which could be good to use as an inner corner or under the brow bone highlight. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Sweet Tooth –¬†This is a silvery white foil like shade which could be good to use as an inner corner or under the brow bone highlight. Pigmentation 4/5.
Appetizing –¬†This is a bronze foil like shade. Pigmentation 4.5/5.

Final thoughts…

Because this is so similar to the Nudes palette you should already know that I was gonna love this palette! I’m such a nude, neutral eyeshadow girl at heart even though I do love my colourful eyeshadow more so now. As I mentioned, if you love these sorts of shades and you want both the Nudes and Smores palette in your collection then go for it but if you are debating on which one to pick then that would have to be personal preference. I highly recommend both of these palettes… if I had to sway more towards one then it would probably be this one. I don’t think you need to have both in your collection because they have such similar shades but you do you! (I have them both because I’m a collector so it’s completely up to you what you decide to do) This palette would be really good for beginners or even someone who is experienced and wants a completely neutral palette in their kit… Overall, I really would recommend this palette!!!

I Heart Revolution COTTON CANDY Palette Reviewūüć¨ūüćę

Hello babs! You probably guessed it… yes it’s another chocolate bar palette review today! The one I’m going to be talking about is the¬†Cotton Candy¬†palette which I picked up from either Revolution Beauty for ¬£9 or Superdrug for ¬£8.99 (it’s been that long since I bought it that I can’t remember haha) This is such a pretty girly palette and definitely gives me anything sugary vibes! If you want to know my thoughts on this palette then keep on reading…

There are x3 matte shades and x15 shimmer shades which makes a total of 18 shades altogether. The matte shades each contain 1.2g / 0.042oz of product and the shimmer shades each contain 1g / 0.035oz of product. This palette is cruelty-free but not vegan.

Packaging

The eyeshadows come in a shiny ‘custard’ colour plastic rectangular packaging which has a pastel pink 3D melted chocolate effect on the front. Just like all of the others, the palette flips open, has a full size mirror and a click shut mechanism. The names of the eyeshadows are printed onto the palette underneath each individual shade.

First impressions

Just like the majority of the chocolate bar palettes, this one also has a chocolate scent to it. Again, it’s nothing too overpowering but I always like to mention it incase anyone reading is sensitive to scented products.

I’m just going to get the only slightly negative thing I have to say about the palette out of the way… the only thing I dislike about this palette is that there are more shimmer shades compared to mattes… there are only 3 mattes in the palette which for me is not enough to work with. The mattes are all brown shades so you can’t really create that many looks apart from a brown eye with shimmer on the lid. There is only 1 variation of brown because the shades Made To Share¬†and¬†Treat For You are very similar so the only really different brown shade is Enjoy.¬†Granted, there are some lovely shimmer shades to choose from to add to your looks but you just can’t do very much. That being said for some reason I just still really like this palette even though I typically prefer more mattes, I think I can make this one an exception haha.

The shimmers in this palette are incredibleeeeeee, you will not be disappointed if you get this palette purely for the shimmers! The 3 mattes have decent pigmentation and blend well together because lets be real most brown shades blend well together because they are all from the same colour family just different in variations.

Swatches

Disclaimer: Don’t always rely on swatches of shadows because sometimes they perform better on the eyes than they do in the swatches or vice versa… I just like to show swatches so you get an idea on what the colours look like.

(Without and with flash)

Topped –¬†This is a yellow gold foil like shade which could be good to use as an inner corner or under the brow bone highlight. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Carnival –¬†This is an orange shimmer shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Enjoy –¬†This is a light ashy brown matte shade which could be good to use as the transition shade in the crease. Pigmentation 3/5.
Fancy –¬†This is a bronzy foil like shade. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Fairground –¬†This is a light peachy shadow topper in my opinion because its not metallic enough to be a foil shade and isn’t really smooth enough to be a shimmer. Pigmentation 2.5/5.
Sweetheart –¬†This is a red foil like shade. Pigmentation 3/5.

Made To Share –¬†This is a warm toned brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Fairy Floss –¬†This is light pinky/purple foil like shade. Pigmentation 4.5/5.
Strawberry –¬†This is a rosy pink foil like shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Clouds –¬†This is a silvery grey foil like shade (very unique). Pigmentation 4/5.
Spun Sugar –¬†This is a deep pinky/purple foil like shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Sweet Tooth –¬†This is a white foil like shade with a slight silver undertone. This could be good to use as an inner corner or under the brow bone highlight. Pigmentation 4/5.

Pretty In Pastel –¬†This is a purple foil like shade. Pigmentation 5/5.
Confection –¬†This is a champagne gold foil like shade. Pigmentation 4.5/5.
So Sweet РThis is light pastel pink shimmer which could be good to use as an inner corner or under the brow bone highlight. Pigmentation 3/5.
Treat For You –¬†This is an orangey brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Puff –¬†This is a deep purple foil like shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Dreams –¬†This is a bronzey foil like shade. Pigmentation 4.5/5.

Final thoughts…

I actually really like this palette, I think the colour story is very pretty! Like I mentioned at the start, one thing that could have made this palette even better would be if they put more matte shades in here and took out some of the shimmers. This is definitely a palette I think I’d reach for more in the spring as well as the transition into the start of summer because of the pretty shades! If you don’t mind having more shimmer shades than mattes and you like a quite pastel pinky/purple girly eyeshadow story then I do think you’d quite enjoy this one.

I Heart Revolution CHOCOLATE CHERRY Palette Reviewūüćíūüćę

Hello babs! Continuing on with the chocolate bar palette reviews… today I’m going to be reviewing the¬†Chocolate Cherry¬†palette which is a fairly new-ish release from I Heart Revolution. I picked mine up from Revolution Beauty for ¬£9 but it is also available on Superdrug for ¬£8.99 (not sure why there is a 1p difference but if I’d have known that then I’d have ordered on Superdrug so I could save that 1p… it makes all the difference haha). I have quite some views on this palette so be sure to keep on reading…

There are 18 shades in this palette which have approximately 1g / 0.035oz of product in each. There are 10 matte shades, 5 foil like shades, 1 shimmer shade and 2 shadow toppers. This palette is cruelty-free but not vegan.

PICK YOURS UP HERE or HERE

Packaging

The eyeshadows come in a shiny pink plastic rectangular packaging which has a shiny red 3D melted chocolate effect on the front. Inside there is a full size mirror and the shades name are printed onto the palette under each individual shade. The palette flips open and has a secure click shut mechanism.

First impressions

I’m going to begin by saying I am pleasantly surprised that when I opened this palette I noticed that it has a sweet cherry sorta fragrance to it. It is slightly more overpowering than the normal chocolate scent the majority of the palettes have so bare that in mind if you are someone who is sensitive to scented products.

This is where I’m a little disappointed… I’m going to begin by saying that when I heard the name of the palette I thought that its going to be full of reddish and purplish shades as those are the colours I think of when I think of cherries… so when I first opened the palette I was very underwhelmed. I feel that Revolution could have gone so much further with this palette and really lived out its cherry fantasy… Don’t get me wrong the shades are okay but its nothing exciting. And the only red shade they put in this palette is quite disappointing in colour pay-off… (I’m sorry for being so negative) The palette just overall in my opinion looks boring and uninspiring. I don’t feel like you can create as many looks as I thought you would be able to…

What I do like however is that there are more mattes shades in comparison to shimmers in this palette and you should know by now that I love a palette with more matte shades! I just think it makes the palette so much easier to work with when creating looks. In terms of pigmentation, overall the shades do have good colour pay-off apart from the red I mentioned and also the dark brown. The foil shades are incredible as they usually are! The colours perform well on the eyes and blend quite easily.

Swatches

Disclaimer: Don’t always rely on swatches of shadows because sometimes they perform better on the eyes than they do in the swatches or vice versa… I just like to show swatches so you get an idea on what the colours look like.

(Without and with flash)

Kirsch –¬†This is a pink shadow topper in my opinion as it’s not as pigmented to be a foil like shade but has slightly more pigmentation than a shimmer. Pigmentation 3/5.
All Gone –¬†This is a muted pink/purple matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Wild –¬†This is a red foil like shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Pop –¬†This is a pink/purple shadow topper because of the reasons I stated before when talking about¬†Kirsch. Pigmentation 3/5.
Sour¬†–¬†This is a pale peachy pink matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Spring –¬†This is an off white matte shade which could be good to use to set an eyelid primer or base. Pigmentation 3/5.

Ripe –¬†This is a deep brown foil like shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Bakewell –¬†This is an orangey brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Tart –¬†This is a deep champagne foil like shade. Pigmentation 5/5.
Black Forest –¬†This is a reddy brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Blossom –¬†This is a pink shimmer shade which could be good to use as an inner corner or under the brow bone highlight. Pigmentation 3/5.
Pair –¬†This is a brown matte shade with a slight purple undertone to it. Pigmentation 3/5.

Almond –¬†This is an ashy brown matte shade with a slight warm undertone do it. It could be good to use as a transition shade in the crease. Pigmentation. 3/5.
Cherry Cola –¬†This is a reddy brown foil like shade. Pigmentation 5/5.
Morello –¬†This is another muted purple matte shade which is slightly darker than All Gone.¬†Pigmentation 3/5.
Dark Chocolate –¬†This is a deep brown matte shade (or at least thats what it looked like in the pan). Pigmentation 2.5/5 as even after building up quite a bit it is still patchy.
Jubilee –¬†This is a reddy purple foil like shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
Maraschino –¬†This is a muted red matte shade (it looks way deeper in the pan that it does in the swatch). Pigmentation 2.5/5 as even after building it is not building up to its true colour.

Final thoughts…

I just think this palette isn’t for me. I’m of course going to keep it because I am a collector of the chocolate bar palettes but I know its one that I will barely reach for out of my collection. I just don’t feel very inspired when I look at this palette and the colour story is quite boring, like I mentioned at the start, they could have done so much more with this palette. It’s an okay palette, its not one of the best they have done in my opinion but if you like the look of it then go ahead and pick it up but all I will say is that if you don’t want to buy it then you’re not missing out on much… I hate being so negative in a review but I have to speak the truth and this palette just isn’t all that…

I Heart Revolution NUDES Palette Reviewūüćę

Hello babs! As I said in my previous post, the next 5 posts are going to be chocolate bar palette reviews so that I can get up to date with reviewing them before any more are added to my collection. The one were going to be talking about today is the¬†Nudes¬†palette which I think I picked up either on Revolution Beauty or Superdrug for ¬£8.99 (it was that long ago now that I can’t actually remember haha). Now if you’re into your nude shades like the palette suggests then this will be right up your street!!

There are 18 shades in this palette which have approximately 1.22g / 0.043oz of product in each. There are 11 mattes, 5 foil like shades and 2 slightly shimmer shadows. This palette is cruelty-free and vegan.

Packaging

The eyeshadows come in a shiny brown plastic rectangular packaging which has a shiny cream-ish colour 3D melted chocolate effect on the front. The palette flips open and inside it has a full size, good quality mirror. The palette clicks shut securely and has the shade names printed onto the palette underneath each of the individual shades.

Ingredients

MICA, ALUMINIUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, TALC, MAGNESIUM STEARATE, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE, POLYBUTENE, SILICA, POLYETHENE, CALCIUM SODIUM BOROSILICATE, DIMETHICONE, TIN OXIDE, METHYLPARABEN, PROPYLPARABEN, [+/-: CI 77891, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77007, CI 15850, CI 16035].

First impressions

Like the majority of the other chocolate bar palettes, this one also has a chocolate scent to it. It’s nothing too overpowering but you can definitely notice it when you open up the palette.

When you first open the palette you will definitely see that it has a lot of nude shades in it like the name suggests. There are a lot of variations of brown shades, there is a pop of pink and a pop of deep purple as well. I feel you can definitely create a lot of different natural, neutral and smokey looks with this palette just from looking at the shades. Of course you can’t create anything fun or colourful because the shades are so neutral. What I think I would have liked added into this palette is a matte black shade so that you can really create some depth in your smokey eye looks.

I really like how this palette has more mattes than it does shimmers, for me I just love an eyeshadow palette to have more mattes to work with along with the few shimmers to chose from to add that little something to a look. I also love the shade names in this palette, I just think they fit so well with the vibe of it as a whole!! In terms of pigmentation, the majority of the shades show up well… however, some of the matte shades are a little bit of a let down… The foil like shades perform incredibly and although some of the mattes aren’t very pigmented to begin with, they are buildable and blend easily on the eyes.

Swatches

Disclaimer: Don’t always rely on swatches of shadows because sometimes they perform better on the eyes than they do in the swatches or vice versa… I just like to show swatches so you get an idea on what the colours look like.

(Without and with flash)

Bare It All –¬†This is a brick reddy brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Stripped Down –¬†This is a coppery foil like shade. Pigmentation 4.5/5.
French Girls –¬†This is an orangey brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
In The Sheets –¬†This is a cool toned deep brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Pillow¬†Talk –¬†This is an orangey gold foil like shade. Pigmentation 4.5/5.
Candlelit –¬†This is a pink toned foil like shade. Pigmentation 4.5/5.

In The Nude –¬†This is a champagne foil like shade (would be perfect as a face highlighter for medium skin tones). This could also be used as an inner corner or under the brow bone highlight. Pigmentation 4/5.
Secret –¬†This is an ashy brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Birthday Suit –¬†This is a pink matte shade with a slight shimmer running through it. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Flustered –¬†This is an off white matte shade with a slight shimmer running through it. ¬†This could be good to set an eyelid base or primer. Pigmentation 3/5.
Lovestruck –¬†This is a brown foil like shade. Pigmentation 4/5.
In the Buff –¬†This is a matte shade slightly similar to¬†Secret¬†but has more of a warm undertone to it. This could be good as a transition shade in the crease. Pigmentation 3/5.

Au Naturel –¬†This is a plum purple matte shade. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Undressed –¬†This is a matte shade slightly similar to¬†French Girls but more muted in colour. Pigmentation 3.5/5.
Bodacious –¬†This is a matte shade slightly similar to Undressed¬†but has more of a cool undertone to it. Pigmentation 3/5.
Skimpy –¬†This is a cream matte shade which could also be good to set an eyelid primer or base. Pigmentation 3/5.
After Dark –¬†This a peachy brown matte shade. Pigmentation 3/5.
Brazen –¬†This is a matte shade slightly similar to¬†In The Sheets¬†but has more of a warm undertone to it. Pigmentation 2.5/5 as quite patchy.

Final thoughts…

I really do like the whole vibe of this palette as I am a natural eyeshadow sorta girl at heart, I don’t typically do neutral eyes as much lately but they still have my heart. I love the shade selection in here and the majority of the shades do perform well apart from 1 or 2 but that’s nothing major in my opinion. If you’re someone who’s into natural, neutral or smokey sorta tones then this palette would be a really nice addition to your collection. I think this would also be perfect for beginners starting out with eyeshadow as the shades are easy to work with and you don’t have to worry about what colours blend well with what because all these shades go well together which could make for some easy eyeshadow looks!

Chocolate Palette Wishlist

Hello babs! First off, I just want to apologise for taking a very long unannounced break from blogging… I think the last time I blogged was May… I’ve been trying to get my makeup Instagram account up and running, plus I’ve been getting more hours at work etc so just haven’t found the time or had the motivation to blog… however, I’m back (hopefully)!!!!!!

As you all probably know by now I’m a sucker for I Heart Revolution’s chocolate bar palettes… I think I have reviewed just over 20 of them on my blog so far and possibly have about 5 or 6 left to review before any more are added to my collection… My next few posts are going to be solely on reviewing them (I hope you don’t mind) but today I wanted to share with you my chocolate bar palette wishlist of the ones I need so far! I haven’t had any excess money recently to buy any makeup especially chocolate bar palettes therefore there is like 10 I still need to get (thats until they start releasing more, usually I can keep up with their releases but being on a no buy has been a real struggle lately).¬†Enough rambling, lets get into it!!¬†*disclaimer: 3 of the photos in the header image are courtesy of @glambox92 over on Instagram*

1.¬†Gingerbread Palette¬†– This one is exclusive (well currently) to the 2019 Christmas Chocolate Heart collection like what they did last year. They eventually put them individually for sale but if I can get this one on Depop individually like I did for a couple of the palettes last year before that then I’ll snatch it up. Plus it’s also supposedly a dupe for the Too Faced Gingerbread palette from last year!

2.¬†Fruit and Nut Palette¬†– This one is exclusive (well currently) to the 2019 Christmas Chocolate Vault collection like what they did last year. Again, like I said just if I can get it on Depop before they announce it being sold separately then I will just incase they don’t release it individually.

3.¬†Slime Palette¬†– This is a 2019 Halloween palette which they’ve never actually done before so I’m very excited!!! Not sure if its only being released for Halloween or whether it’s permanent but I’m definitely going to get my hands on it before then hopefully!!¬†*¬£8.99 as of Revolution Beauty*

4.¬†Honey Palette¬†– This is one of their permanent chocolate bar palettes so of course it’s on my list to have.¬†*¬£8.99 as of Revolution Beauty and Superdrug*

5. Cinnamon Palette РAgain, this is another one of their permanent chocolate bar palettes which needs home with my others! *£9 as of Revolution Beauty*

6. Turkish delight Palette РAnother one of their permanent chocolate bar palettes, this is one that stands out to me the most out of their permanent releases recently. *£8.99 as of Revolution Beauty and Superdrug*

7.¬†Blood Palette –¬†This is the sibling to the Slime Palette as this is the other one of their 2019 Halloween releases. Again, not sure if it’s being kept permanent of if it’s only for Halloween but I’m definitely getting my hands on it just incase!¬†*¬£9 as of Revolution Beauty*

8.¬†Cr√®me¬†Br√Ľl√©e Palette¬†– This is another one of their permanent chocolate bar palette so again, it needs to be in my collection with the rest of it’s family!¬†*¬£8.99 as of Revolution Beauty and Superdrug*

9.¬†Cookies and Cream Palette¬†– This is the other new one exclusive to the 2019 Christmas Chocolate Vault collection therefore I need to try and get it on Depop hopefully just incase they don’t release it individually (I’m hoping they will as thats what they did with their Christmas exclusive releases last year).

10.¬†Sprinkles Palette¬†– The last of the permanent chocolate bar palette releases they have done recently. Just gonna say it again like I have about the others… I need it.¬†*¬£8.99 as of Revolution Beauty and Superdrug*

So that concludes my chocolate palette wishlist that I have currently… hopefully I can catch up pretty soon before they start banging out a load of other ones haha! I Heart Revolution, give a girl a chance to catch up pleaseeeeeeeeeee ūüôā

Cannes Film Festival 2019 MAKEUP Thoughts…

Hello babs! Today I’m going to be sharing my thoughts on some of the makeup looks from the Cannes Film Festival for 2019. A lot of celebrities had numerous makeup looks so I have just chosen the ones which really stood out to me to comment on.

DISCLAIMER: I am in no way bashing or being negative out of spite.. I am just giving my opinions on what I like and think works well in a makeup look. I am in no way a makeup artist either so I don‚Äôt know the ins and outs of makeup‚Ķ everyone has their opinions so although you may not agree with me, it‚Äôs just a little fun so please don‚Äôt feel offended ūüôā

1.¬†AMBER HEARD¬†– Her skin looks super healthy and glowy. I really like how her lip colour compliments the colour of her outfit and her earrings! I’m not sure if they’re her actual freckles or faux freckles but either way I really like them. The touch of blush and the subtle red eye look compliments the lip colour really well, I just think the lashes look quite heavy and too bold. Her eyebrows have some nice definition to them yet still look quite fluffy.

2.¬†SELENA GOMEZ – I think her skin looks flawless but a little too matte in my opinion… I love how she has a subtle eye look paired with a lovely bold red lip. However, I’m just not sure on the winged liner, I don’t think helps with her eye shape… She has such a lovely eyebrow shape and they are really nice and defined! I feel like she could have had a bit more glow to her skin…

3.¬†ELLE FANNING¬†– This natural look is really nice on Elle, she looks very feminine! The subtle blush pairs well with the nude lip colour and the simple eye look. I like how you can see a slight touch of glitter on her eye lids. Her eyebrows are a lovely shape, fluffy and nicely defined, however I feel they could have been tidied up just a little bit towards the tail…

cannes-film-festival-best-beauty-looks-buro247-05

4. DAKOTA FANNING РAnother natural look which looks really nice on Dakota, she looks very feminine! Her skin looks so radiant and healthy and I love the subtle pink blush she has going on which compliments her pink lip lovely. Just like her sister, she has a really good eyebrow shape and look much neater and defined. Her eyelids are bare but the touch of mascara really helps bring out her eye colour.

5. BELLA HADID РCan we just talk about her incredible sculpted cheekbones, omg?!?!? Her skin looks so flawless and the bronzer really brings out her incredible facial structure! I feel like her eyebrows could have been a little more filled in, however they are such a lovely shape and nice and fluffy. The subtle neutral eye look she has really compliments the bronzer and nude lip well. The lashes go really well with the eye look as well as they are so nice and fluttery.

6.¬†PRIYANKA CHOPRA¬†– Her skin looks so healthy and flawless with slight sculptured cheekbones. Her eyebrows are incredible, lovely definition and I love how they ombre towards the front. I’m not sure on the graphic liner as you can’t really see much of it but from what you can see it adds a nice little touch. I love the mauve pink she has on her lips, I think it really finishes off the look nicely!

7. MARGOT ROBBIE РAnother very natural look going on which I think really suits Margot! Her eyebrows have nice definition but again I think they need to be tidied up a little more towards the tail of the brow. The slight touch of blush on her cheeks really compliments the nude pink lip. Not much going on with the eyes but the touch of mascara really brings out her eye colour.

cannes-beauty-1150923409-1200x1800

8.¬†HELEN MIRREN¬†– For an older woman her skin still looks incredible, so healthy and glowy! The slight touch of blush really compliments the pink lip she has going on. Her eyebrows have lovely definition to them and although she doesn’t have much eyelid space, she has really pulled off adding some definition to her eyes!

helen-mirren-pink-hair-cannes.jpg

9. SHAILENE WOODLEY РHer skin looks healthy, glowy and bronzed! I really like that the statement of her look is the bold coral lipstick. She has nothing on her eyes apart from mascara but again it really helps to make her eyes pop! Her eyebrows have good definition to them but again I think they could have been tidied up slightly towards the tail.

10. EVA LONGORIA РHer skin looks so healthy and glowy! I like the neutral brown eye look she has going on and I think the nude glossy lip compliments it really well. She has a lovely shape to her eyebrows and they have good definition to them. The slight touch of blush also compliments the lip colour as well.

Well that concludes this blog post for today, again I had a lot of fun doing it so I really hope you enjoyed it too ūüôā
